Lakeside Community Church

At Lakeside, relationships are more important than programs. Our hope is that you will find a place to connect with someone and build a friendship. Even more important, that you will come to know Jesus through these encounters. Lakeside isn’t about a building, it is about a people who are discovering what it means to know Jesus in a transforming friendship that touches every part of our lives.

Food With Friends

Food With Friends is a volunteer-run initiative that provides free lunches to those in need of food, warmth, or conversation in Salmon Arm. Volunteers serve nutritious and delicious meals on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at Lakeside Community Church. During the warmer months, meals are served outside in the parking lot, and from October to April, they move indoors.

These meals cater to our vulnerable population, including the disabled, unhoused, those on a fixed income and seniors experiencing loneliness.

On average, they serve 45 people each day. Everything is done by donation, including the food prepared and served by volunteers. It requires about 10 volunteers a day, and they are always looking for more help. Anyone interested can contact Angie or Dave Byers at 250-253-6022.

Who We Are

At Lakeside Community Church, our vision is to become a Christ-like community of belonging, invitation, caring, and transformation. Led by the Holy Spirit, we seek to experience God’s love—and share that love with our neighbours.

We are part of the Free Methodist Church in Canada, a movement rooted in Scripture and committed to living out the teachings of Jesus through worship, service, and discipleship.

What We Believe

Our faith is anchored in two core teachings of Jesus:

• The Great Commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:37–40

• The Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19–20

At Lakeside, we believe:

• The Bible is inspired by God and speaks truth into our lives.

• God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• Jesus is God—born of a virgin, sinless, and full of power and compassion.

• His death is the only way to receive forgiveness for our sins.

• Salvation is a gift of grace, received by faith.

• The Holy Spirit guides and empowers believers daily.

• Jesus will return in glory to restore all things.

• A transformed life is marked by obedience to God’s Word.

• God gives us strength to live a full and faithful life through His Spirit.

“At Lakeside, giving is worship—small offerings, surrendered in faith, become mighty in God’s hands.”

At Lakeside, giving is more than finances—it’s worship. We don’t measure success in profit, but in faithfulness to God’s call: to worship, serve, and love.

Scripture reminds us that God often works through what seems small or limited. The widow’s two coins (Mark 12:41–44), the boy’s five loaves and two fish (John 6:1–13), and the manna in the wilderness (Exodus 16) all show that when we trust Him, even modest offerings become abundant in His hands.

Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21) Each gift—large or small—aligns our hearts with His purposes and helps us join in His mission.

We give with gratitude, trusting that God provides what we need, when we need it. Together, our faithfulness can be multiplied for His glory and the good of our community.
