KNOW God as leader of your life.
GROW closer to Him.
SHOW God’s love to others.
Vision: Working alongside families to provide a safe and loving community where kids learn how to live out their lives for Jesus and share that love with others.
Mission: “Anxiety and stress among children has increased 45% in the past 30 years. Sunday School should be free from the pressure of achieving or striving. They should be able to come as they are and relax.”
We want to provide kids a safe and comfortable place where they are accepted and valued. A place where they can experience the wonder of God’s love for them and the strong sense of security that comes from that love. We don’t just want to teach them about God and His greatness, but to show them how to have a personal relationship with Jesus. We don’t just want to be a classroom, but a family that celebrates their successes and walks along beside them in their struggles.
“They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” -John Maxwell
“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God.” 1 John 3:1
A tree in a pot will have stunted growth, it has no community. But under the right conditions, a tree in the forest will flourish. It needs deep roots and a firm foundation. We partner with parents to strengthen their kid’s faith and help them gain confidence in God’s Word. The Bible is their sunshine, where they find comfort, joy, hope, instruction and direction for all areas of their life. As leaders and parents we need to model our walk with God so they can imitate us. We water them by investing and pouring into them. Homework sheets and memory verses prompt them to live out what they learn. It provides parents with opportunities to engage their children in conversation as they apply this teaching to their everyday life and tackle the challenges that come with it.
“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:7
You can discern a mature and healthy tree by the fruit it bears. As Christians we are to give back to others what we ourselves have received. We don’t just tell our kids to show God’s love to others, we provide opportunities for them to serve in their church and their community. Our kids have such a heart for this broken world and often lead the congregation in our efforts to help the lost and hurting, restoring God’s intended wholeness everywhere.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
What our leaders are saying:
“I love the Lord. I love children. How wonderful to have the privilege of assisting children in their relationship with the Lord!” -Naida
“Kids seem very comfortable and open. They share their concerns freely and their successes. They WANT to come.” -Karen
“I love connecting with the kids, getting to know them and their parents so that if we see them outside of church they know who we are, and we know them.” -Mona
“Kidzone kids inspire me – when there is a need, they want to help. They don’t first consider if they have the time or resources, they are just willing to do whatever it takes to fill the need. I believe that God would love for all to be that willing.” -Karen
“I’ve always been so baffled that God would choose someone as messed up as me to teach His children. I cannot think of anything more important in God’s Kingdom than shaping the lives and hearts of our future generation. One of my professors used to say that Christianity is always only one generation away from being extinct. These kids we teach today will shape the world long after we’re gone. Sunday School teachers are not here to babysit the children while the congregation learns how to become disciples. We are not here as warm bodies to fill a position. We are here to form lasting relationships with these kids. We are here to be role models for Christ and to demonstrate His love for his most prized creations. We are here to mold these children and turn them into young disciples of Jesus. The things we impress upon their hearts now will have lasting impressions that can either help or hinder them in future trials of this world. And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like the little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Children have not yet become jaded by this world. They are innocent and love with all their heart, not withholding for fear of being hurt or rejected. They accept as truth what people they trust tell them, no proof required. So the fact that God has given me the gifts and opportunities to become entwined in so many of His children’s lives demonstrates how deep His love is for me and helps me glimpse just a little bit of how he sees me.
I pray we never forget just how blessed we are to be placed in these positions of leadership and that we never take advantage of it. God created each one of us for a purpose. He knew we would be here shaping the lives in Kidzone when we were yet to be conceived. He has given us all the materials and grace we need to accomplish these tasks. So let us never leave God behind when we enter our classrooms Sunday mornings.” -Danielle
