The Psalms of Ascent or Pilgrim Songs (Psalm 120-134) give us a model for discipleship in an instant society.  Discipleship is not something that happens in an instant, it is the result of a life of obedience over a period of time.  Or as Eugene Peterson calls it "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction".  These Psalms (Songs) for the Road express the journey of God's people as we pursue our life in God.
